Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need an API key or account to use the widgets?
No. Just copy the iframe snippet, paste it into your HTML, and replace the VIN parameter. There's no sign-up, no API key, and no authentication required.
Is there a usage limit or rate cap?
The widgets are free and unlimited for normal usage. They're designed for blogs, forums, and listing pages. If you plan to make thousands of automated requests, please reach out first.
Can I style the widget to match my site's theme?
The widgets are self-contained iframes with a clean, neutral design that works on most sites. Custom theming isn't available yet, but the cards are designed to blend in with light backgrounds.
Where does the data come from?
Vehicle specs and recall data come from the NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) API. Fuel economy data comes from the EPA (Environmental Protection Agency). Both are official U.S. government sources.
How do these widgets help my site or business?
They add instant, trustworthy vehicle data to your pages — which keeps visitors engaged longer, builds credibility, and reduces the need for manual spec lookups. Car bloggers use them to enrich reviews, forums embed them in listing threads, and dealerships add them to inventory pages so buyers get specs at a glance.
Can I embed a widget for any VIN?
Yes — any valid 17-character VIN for a U.S.-market vehicle will work. The widget decodes the VIN in real time against the NHTSA database. If a VIN can't be decoded, the widget shows a friendly error message.
